  • Mission Statement: Provide study, analysis, input, and information or the betterment of infrastructure in Fayette County. This includes supporting construction and planning initiatives that will improve water and sanitary sewer systems, the County’s transportation network, area park and recreational facilities, and the overall condition of the County’s housing stock.

    Projects from meeting on 9/29/09.

    1. The development of infrastructure projects that will enhance the development of the arts, recreation, and medical fields  and provide sustainable jobs for the Dunbar area.

    Projects from meeting on 10/6/09.

    1. The Fayette County Jail is obsolete and inadequate and the rooms has little room for adequate rehabilitation.
    2. Public Sewer Service and additional development is needed. (Bullskin)
    3. Water for dry areas or areas that may lose water. (Bullskin)
    4. Public Service/Transportation is needed for the disabeled. (Bullskin)
    5. Expand FACT Transportation routes and hours in Connellsville area. (People cannot work a 3-11 shift and ride hte FACT bus to work. (S. Connellsville)
    6. Improved Train Station in Connellsville which provides baggage service or roll on, roll off bicycle service for trail users.
    7. Create safe bike lanes (or any bike path) through cities and towns and between communities. (S. Connellsville)
    8. Increse recycling services (pick up more than once a week or drop off locations for more materials. (S. Connellsville)
    9. Buses-better coordination in Connellsville.
    10. Bike Trails need maintenance. (Connellsville)
    11. Transportation – increase bus routes, bike lanes, etc. (Connellsville)
    12. Railway/Amtrack station, allow bikes on trains. (Connellsville)
    13. Bike racks on sidewalks. (Connellsville)
    14. Bike carriers on FACT buses. (Connellsville)
    15. Roads-too much inner city traffic. (Connellsville)
    16. Airport- great expand Connelsville Airport. (Connellsville)
    17. Railway – Expand service for the bibyclists. (Connellsville)
    18. Good Public wate rand sewage service. (Connellsville)
    19. Complete streets, bicycle, pedestrian – repaired sidewalks, safe crosswalk. (Connellsville)
    20. The infrastructure needs attention, would like to see more people drawn to our area. (Dunbar)
    21. Expand VVS, Connellsville Airport Runway 5k. (Fairchance)
    22. Would like to see Fairchance spruced up with a focus on lighting. (Fairchance)
    23. We have a concern withour roads in Fairchance.
    24. Residents desire sidewalks to be replaced or repaired, especially on West Church Street and Main Street.  (Fairchance)
    25. Public Water SErvice installed by local company. (Farmington)
    26. Need to increase free flow of traffic – Use “Service Road” for business development. (Farmington)
    27. We need high speed internet and other newer means of communication in the mountain area. (Farmington)
    28. More local transportation in the Farmington area.
    29. We need better bridges and roads in the mountain area. Not as much paper work for DEP when you need to build a bridge or cross street. (Farmington)
    30. We would like to have windmills in our community. (Farmington)
    31. We need more traffic lights on Rt. 21. (Farmington)
    32. Traffic light on Rt 40 needs addressed.  More traffic lights are needed. (side roads, you have to sit for long periods of time to access Rt. 40. Example: Marker Road).
    33. Bridges are a concern and particularly in the winter.  Guthrie and Thornton Bridges have had their weight limits cut and taking about 1 1/2 hours more to do snow removal/plowing.
    34. Update buildings. Develop and enforce building codes in Masontown.
    35. Transportation is urgently needed in/out of Masontown and around Masontown.  Many elderly, many without cars (17%-2000 Census). Masontown
    36. Get Zoning Board to inform Masontown when a MAJOR change is being made, ie. placing apartments on the first floor of Main Street, never done before until now. (Masontown)
    37. Find ways to market the industrial park to provide good jobs. (Masontown)
    38. We need to improve the quality of high speed internet services in Menallen Township and the county. (Menallen)
    39. All roads in the county needs to be improved and maintain and more focus is needed to be in place on safety versus development. (Menallen)

    49. We need more money for our roads. (Normalville/Mill Run)
    50. Repair what we have in Perryopolis.
    51. We need more water supply in the area of Perryopolis.
    52. Expand sewer services while it’s affordable. (Perryopolis)
    53. We need more water on Rt 201, Barney Rd, Barning Hill, Virgin Run areas in Perryopolis.
    54. A traffic light is badly needed in Perryopolis (Rt 51 & Constitution St.)
    55. Break ground for new water lines. (Pt. Marion)
    56. Need public transportation to Morgantown area. (Pt. Marion)
    57. Resurface streets where needed. (Pt. Marion)
    58. Repair or install sidwalks where needed in Pt. Marion
    59. Free parking in Uniontown. (Uniontown)

    Community Meeting Project Ideas:

    1. Better communicaiton system to inform neighbors of what we have in our community. (Bville)
    2. Our streets need repaired and maintained in Brownsville.

     

    PA Prosperity Partnerships (2009 Strategic Plan Report)

    Strong Infrastructure:  Forum participants believe a strong infrastructure is already in place, providing a strategic advantage for future development.  Transit infrastructure (e.g., airport, railroads, and roadways), broadband capacity, affordable quality housing, and the Uniontown Hospital were all mentioned as local infrastructure strengths to build upon.
