They will gather once more to pray for the nation.
A 9/11 Awake America Public Memorial and Prayer Gathering will be held at noon Friday on the front steps of the Fayette County Courthouse, Main Street, Uniontown.
The Rev. Margaret Frey, of Mountaintop Faith Ministries, is acting as county coordinator for the event, part of a national prayer movement across the United States sponsored by Awakening America Alliance. This is the third year the event has been held in Fayette County.
Frey explained the Fayette County event will take place on Friday, Sept. 10 not Saturday, Sept. 11, which is the actual anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
“We like to come when the courthouse is open,” Frey explained.
Common Ground Ministries from Broken Arrow, Okla., will return once more to minister in music.
Local speakers will include the Rev. Mark Sholtis of Normalville United Methodist Church.
“It’s a wonderful event,” said Frey. “We think it’s important and that we ought to be there.”
In a press release publicizing the event, Frey said, “Thank you for uniting together with us to remember 911 and to pray for our nation. We’re living in serious times, and we need to join our hearts together and pray for America o remain a strong and blessed nation.”’

Churches set up Halloween alternatives
By: FRANCES BORSODI ZAJAC Herald Standard
Several Uniontown area churches are planning Halloween alternatives for next weekend.
Spirit and Fire Ministries, located at 306 Edison St. in North Union Township, will host a Harvest Jubilee, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The event, which is open to all ages, will include a bonfire, games for youths, little gift basket giveaways and free food. Renegades 4 God, a Christian band, also will perform.
“Everyone is welcome. We’re going to have something for everyone,” said Tiffany Androsik, wife of the Rev. Danny Androsik Jr., pastor.
The church opened earlier this year and is offering this event for the first time.
Calvary Apostolic Church, located on Rolling Hills Estate Road in North Union Township, across from the state Department of Transportation District 12 offices, will host its second annual FallFest from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The event will include a free Trunk or Treat in the parking lot in which youngsters receive candy by going from trunk to trunk of decorated cars.
Virginia Mirandy of Calvary Apostolic said, “Parents decorate their cars with a theme. We have left it up to them. We encourage no scary stuff, but last year people came up with WVU, Penn State, NASCAR and Steelers. One person had a huge pumpkin on back of his truck.”
The festival also includes a hayride, candy, games and food, for which there is a charge. That aspect is a fundraiser for the youth group.
For more information, call 724-366-0462.
Calvary Christian Fellowship of Fredericktown will host a Harvest Festival on Saturday at the Fredericktown fire hall. It will begin around 5:30 p.m., following the parade in Fredericktown. The free event will include music, games and candy.
Bethel Baptist Church, located at 996 N. Gallatin Ave. Extension in North Union Township, will sponsor “Trunk and Treat” from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday for children through sixth grade. An adult must accompany children ages 5 and younger.
Children are encouraged to dress as Bible characters, cartoon characters and general costumes. The church requests that no costumes with blood, gore, demons or ghosts be worn.
Games will be played indoors and a snack served. After activities, the children will go to the church parking lot for the actual Trunk and Treat. Church members will have their vehicles decorated with biblical themes where the children will get their treats.
The Rev. Bryan Kelley, pastor, said the church has offered the event for four or five years.
“It’s been very successful. We’ve had non-church people come out for the activity. We’re expecting more this year since it’s on Halloween evening,” he said.
Asked why people like Trunk or Treat, Kelley said, “It’s a good, clean alternative without demons or witches. It emphasizes the Bible during the event. We have several cars decorated with Bible themes and as they go from trunk to trunk, they hear several Bible stories along the way.”
To help the church prepare for this event, call the office at 724-437-3090 to make a reservation. All parents are welcome to observe the event.
In addition, members of the Uniontown Catholic Youth Ministry will participate in “Trick-or-Treat So Others Can Eat,” beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Gil McNie, coordinator, said participants will collect non-perishable goods in the neighborhood around St. Mary Roman Catholic Church that will be donated to the food pantry at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Uniontown. This is the second year for the program.
“We got a great response last year,” he said. “We filled the bed of a pickup truck with non-perishables items. We had 50 kids participate last year and we’re hoping to have the same number of kids this year.”
The Uniontown Catholic Youth Ministry includes members of St. John the Evangelist, St. Joseph, St. Mary and St. Therese Roman Catholic churches.

A large percentage of of the things you point out is astonishingly precise and it makes me wonder why I hadn’t looked at this in this light previously. Your article truly did switch the light on for me as far as this specific subject goes. Nevertheless there is one particular factor I am not too comfy with so whilst I try to reconcile that with the actual central theme of the position, allow me see what the rest of your readers have to say.Very well done.
